Christmas

Hello everybody!

I hope you aren’t too stressed out right now? For me today is just a normal working day… Working from 10:00-18:30… For me no stressing today to get the last groceries or presents. For me no cooking today.. And to be honest I have never really been much stressed out about it. I believe most things can be planned so it will not be too stressful.. But hey that is my opinion and of course a lot of time unexpected things happen…

Tonight we only go low key. My parents invited me to come over after work and eat some chicken pastries that were still left. Just a quiet get together for an hour or two and then go home.

Normally my family and I set one day at christmas where we meet. One year it is my turn to cook, the next year it is my mother’s turn and the year after my sister in law. This year we will meet on the first day of christmas and it is my turn to cook. We arranged to eat over at my parent’s apartment because my father is still weak from the whole hospital experience and his illness. This way if he is too exhausted he can go to bed.  The groceries I purchased yesterday together with my mom and the presents are already wrapped which for me is unique as I am usually very last minute with pretty much everything :)….

Tomorrow cooking will be something entirely different. Will get up early to start with dessert. My mother requested my Tiramisu cake so that will be first on my list. For those interested in the recipe: http://www.ah.nl/allerhande/recept/R-R1005276/tiramisutaart . I know it is in Dutch but I am sure you can translate it if you want too ;).. This cake is delicious! I made it last year for my birthday and it was a hit. Three women eating this whole cake. We were absolutely stuffed but it  was worth it..

Then I will go to my parents’ house and we will start with the preparation of the rest of the dinner… My mother agreed to help me cause for me to do it alone it would be too much. In the afternoon the others will arrive and we will first start with unpacking the presents… For kids you cannot expect them to wait and sit through dinner the entire time. The presents have a very magnetic attraction to them and weren’t we the same when we were young? After unpacking it is dinner time and after that just sitting together and have a chat. So yes, tomorrow might be a little more hectic :). And lots of calories as well but for once I guess it’s okay lol.

For the second day of christmas I have no idea… Haven’t planned anything really. Maybe at night at my parents’ house eating the left overs but during the day I guess a quiet day at home. I guess that is different for a lot of you. Being a family/having a relationship means splitting yourself in to as many pieces as possible during holidays. Stressing about whom to visit on what day.

Anyways I wish you all a loving, warm, blissful and happy christmas..

Kim
